My compliments of this Christmas season to all members, players and staff at Boroughmuir Community Sports Club.
As Christmas and 2015 fast approach my thoughts turn to the remainder of this rugby season. The rugby club as a whole is in good shape with the youth section and senior teams competing well in their respective leagues – the exception is the first XV – our flagship team.
After our glorious winning of the second division, the premiership has been a tough track for our relatively young and inexperienced squad – throw in long term injuries in crucial positions and we have found the going difficult in this very competitive league.
We are currently second bottom in the premiership – one point above the improving Edinburgh Academicals – having played twelve matches and won four.
Most of our supporters that I have spoken with are feeling a little apprehensive about the remaining six matches against Currie, Heriot’s, Ayr, Gala, Hawks and Hawick – but I am reassured that the mood amongst the players and coaches is positive.
A couple of victories and a good cup run would do wonders for the confidence amongst our young players and the experience gained this season in the top flight will be to our great advantage when we compete again next season.
I would urge you to come to support the team in these important remaining matches and be part of our success. I’m confident that on everyone’s behalf I can assure the players of our strong and faithful support for the remainder of this current campaign.
Players – you are in the driving seat – let’s win this race for all the men who have gone before you to build the reputation of this club.
Wishing you all a delightful Christmas and a victorious 2015!
