Following matches against Glasgow A in Stirling and Sale Jets at BT Murrayfield, Edinburgh A continue their season with a fixture against Ontario Blues at Meggetland on Monday 27 October.
The travelling Canadians are members of the high performance representative programme for male rugby players in Ontario, represent the state in the Canadian Rugby Championship, Canada’s top domestic rugby competition, and are widely regarded as the best team in Canada (with the exception of the Canadian national men’s team).
The squad have won four straight national titles, winning the Championship’s MacTier Cup annually from 2011-14, their most recent Championship on September 27 – so the team is fresh off their victory.
Canadian national team head coaches have selected fifteen members of the Ontario Blues – thirteen players and two staff members – to national 15s and 7s squads set to compete for Canada in international rugby events in October.
Eight Blues players and two coaches have been named in the Canadian national side set to compete in the IRB Americas Rugby Championship throughout October, while five Blues players have been named in Canada’s national men’s sevens side which is set to compete in this weekend’s Gold Coast Sevens in the HSBC Sevens World Series.
In line with their previous games, the Edinburgh A side will feature an exciting mix of pro players and BT Sport Scottish Rugby Academy players.
Entry to the game, which kicks off at 7.30pm, is free of charge – check the web site for more details.
