Boroughmuir Rugby win Stirling County Sevens

Boroughmuir won the Ondeo Stirling County 2014 Rugby Sevens on Saturday (19th April) beating the host side 26 – 14 in the final.
A large crowd basking in the Bridgehaugh sunshine enjoyed an afternoon of non-stop fast rugby action with a competitive mix of Premiership, National League, regional, local and guest teams.
Boroughmuir, GHA, Hamilton, Howe of Fife, Stirling County, Stirling University, Perthshire and Cartha Queen’s Park, won through to the second round of the cup, while the losing teams played in the Plate competition.
Kirkcaldy and Falkirk won through to the final of the Plate, with the Fife side winning the trophy 26 – 12. In the Cup, Boroughmuir, Howe of Fife, Stirling County and Perthshire won their quarter-final ties. In the semi-finals, Boroughmuir beat Howe of Fife 22 – 15, while Cup holders Stirling County had a convincing 31 – 5 victory over Perthshire.
In the Cup final, Boroughmuir scored the first three tries, two converted, to lead 19 – 0 at the break, but Stirling County responded with two converted tries early in the second-half, before the Edinburgh side sealed a 26 – 14 victory with a final converted try to deservedly lift the Ondeo Stirling County 2014 Sevens Cup.

The next round of the Legacy 7s Series is at Boroughmuir on Saturday 26th April at Meggatland – starting at 2pm. Stirling County will again meet the hosts and Kirkcaldy in Pool B.
