You might have noticed our new playing jerseys for both the Home and Away this season, but why the change?
Who Designed them?
We are pleased to say that President Bill Noble took on the challenge when the Director of Marketing and Communications, Justin Tito approached him about the idea at the end of last season.
Why Change?
Boroughmuir Rugby has under gone a number of changes within the last 12 months, both positive and negative.
With the appointment of a new Board of Directors headed by Bill Watson, to steer the club into a better financial and business operating position, to the 1st XV being relegated from the Premiership, change is all around us.
The aim of the change in jersey design was help make that change visible, to help show Boroughmuir Rugby as a different, new and exciting club to be a part of.
Our sponsors Commsworld, Space Solutions, Purpose Design and Michael Laird Architects and a select number of members were part of the early discussions about the changes, with all overwhelming getting behind the new jerseys.
Flodden Anniversary
Boroughmuir Rugby is the only rugby club in Scotland permitted to have the Saltire Flag within it’s logo. This year is a special reason to change the jersey as it also recognises the 500th Anniversary of the Battle of Flodden.
The Borough Muir is an important part of Edinburgh history. Not far from the club and the School, and still to be seen today, is the site of the Borestone. The Scottish Saltire was placed in the Borestone and the Scottish army gathered around the flag before they marched to the ill-fated battle with the English on Flodden Field.
