Boroughmuir S1 tour to Bishop’s Stortford.
The S1’s 1st tour was to Bishop’s Stortford, between Cambridge and London, on the May Day Bank Holiday weekend.
On Saturday 4th May we had 3 games against top quality English opposition, Sheffield Apaches, Saracens & Bromley.
This season, against Scottish opposition, each team we have faced have either had a big guy that’s given the ball to charge through the middle or a flyer who runs round the outside. In England each team have at least 3 big guys and a couple of flyers per team, so with the adjustments to the rules to contend with, the boys did very well in each game. Their tackling was superb, they chased everything, unfortunately their attacks were limited and they didn’t get the rewards they deserved.
It takes more than three defeats on day 1 to dampen the spirits of ‘Muir on Tour!’ and a great evenings entertainment was had, supplied by our hosts, Bishop’s Stortford.
Sunday 5th May and we found ourselves in a pool with Evreux from France, Sheffield Cherokee’s and Bishop’s Stortford.
On a glorious sunny day the boys had more luck than the day before scoring tries in all three games and coming away with a well deserved victory against Sheffield. We made great friendships with the French and helped out Sheffield with players when they were short through injury. A great advert for the game of rugby and the boys were fantastic ambassadors for Boroughmuir Rugby
