Congratulation to the Samurai Sports squad won last night's Boroughmuir 7s. The select squad of 7s specialists had a relatively straightforward path to the final beating both Boroughmuir and Dalziel in the group stage for a semi-final play-off against Glasgow Hawks who they beat 31-5.
Their opponents for the final were Howe of Fife who had to cope with a tough semi-final against Hamilton. The young Lanarkshire squad had lead till half-time and looked like pulling off a win against last year's series finalists an only a disallowed try moments from the end secured Howe their place in the final.
From the very start it looked as though the final was going to be a pretty even affair with Howe looking more than a match for Samurai. On the 7th minute Samurai broke the stalemate and crossed the line for the first of 5 tries that would go unanswered.
Howe managed a resurgence late in the second half with two well converted tries. However, their more arduous course to the final left them with little energy to sustain their comeback and Samurai scored twice more to win the cup 39-14.
In the Plate competition, Boroughmuir beat Stirling 19-0 to secure a further 5 series points.
Next week the Arnold Clark Legacy 7s Series travels to Cupar the home of Howe of Fife.
