BOROUGHMUIR COLTS v DUNBAR COLTS – SEMI-FINAL SHIELD &PLATE
About four minutes of the match had been played when Boroughmuir’s Backs broke from their 22 with a nice passing run up field which sent Nathan Watson over for the first try.
Shortly after this, with the forwards winning the ball for the Backs to run up field, Ian Martin (No 10) took the ball and looked to be going over the line but was injured in a tackle. Ali Fraser, another pretty good No 10 took over from Ian.
Shortly after taking over Ali sent a lovely drop kick sailing between Dunbar’s posts.
Lots of hard physical play between both teams, both sets of forwards went through phase after phase, but Muir won the ball and passed to the pocket battleship, Connor Mc Cormack, who with a great run, ran over Dunbar’s try line.
Muir’s Backs and Forwards were working very well together, Forwards, controlling the ball well, then, releasing the Backs – John Gebbie and James Lennon, who each ran in a try.
In the second half, Dunbar stuck in, but Muir was at their best. Mr Spin & Twist, Jamie Summers, ran in two quick tries, followed by another great run by the Pocket Battleship, Connor McCormack with another for him. Dunbar tried and tried but Muir seemed to be soaring.
Muir’s Back & Forwards were in concert with each other, they were flying around the pitch. James Greenshields and Jamie Summers ran in more tries, and with the whistle about to go Patrick Halliday ran in another to end the match. A really great performance by the team.
That’s 3 years running League winners. Hopefully, also 3 years running Shield & Plate winners as well.
