Boroughmuir Rugby are delighted to strengthen our coaching team and welcome new Head Coach Andy Douglas.
Andy joins the club after successful spells with West of Scotland and Glasgow Hawks and is looking forward to getting started with the club.
Andy takes over from Lewis Robinson who continues as Assistant Coach and the club would like to congratulate Lewis and the rest of the team on their efforts this season.
The club has a strong track record of developing players and coaches and with Andy’s appointment, it will help the club continue the development of our excellent youth players.
Andy will work with current Bears Head Coach, Graham Shiel and also Bears Academy Manager, Alex Toolis, in ensuring that Boroughmuir players brought through our youth system get the chance to play senior rugby at a competitive level and reach their potential.
The new coaching structure will see Andy head up a coaching team to include Lewis Robinson and Patrick Atkinson, our 1stXV Coaches from last season, Peter Wood our 2nd XV Head Coach and two specialist coaches to be appointed.
Director of Rugby, Neill Wood says ‘It is great to see someone of Andy’s experience join the club and will help us to develop our coaching and playing environment at Boroughmuir. Andy brings a wealth of knowledge of the club game and the club is keen to see how Andy can develop the players to push them to the highest level possible".
Andy is an ex Haddington and Heriots player and one of his favourite rugby memories was winning the cup with Heriots in 2009. His rugby philosophy is simple in that he wants our players and team to play an exciting brand of rugby and have fun while doing it.
Andy takes up his role on 1st June 2023.
Details of other coaching and player appointments will follow.
