As rugby prepares to relaunch competitive fixtures, Boroughmuir Rugby Club is delighted to announce global IT and business consulting services firm CGI (CGI's Official Page) as the principal sponsor of its women’s rugby teams in the 2021/22 season.
Founded in 1919, Boroughmuir Rugby and Community Sports Club has recently celebrated its centenary year and with the generous support provided by CGI, the club will launch women’s Under 14 and Under 16 teams in next season’s fixtures.
CGI – which employs 500 people in Scotland, with offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and the Scottish Borders, and 77,000 across the globe – has a long and proud history of backing local community groups and sports clubs throughout the UK. Indeed over the last two years, the company – which is the primary IT provider for City of Edinburgh Council, Glasgow City Council and Scottish Borders Council – has sponsored kits for more than 440 different clubs and groups, nominated by staff.
Lindsay McGranaghan, Vice President and Business Unit Lead for CGI in Scotland, said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring Boroughmuir, a rugby club with a real pedigree in the sport. It also gives us great pleasure to be the catalyst for the launch of new Under 14 and Under 16 women’s teams.
“We pride ourselves on creating new avenues through STEM for women to enter the world of work in technology and IT, and we are more than happy to be enabling women to consider rugby as their sport of choice.”
Boroughmuir Director David Gammie commented: “Boroughmuir is a dynamic, progressive club. We believe we have one of the best rugby clubs in Scotland, which lives by our strap line of ‘One Club, One Culture, One Community’. Our sponsorship with CGI for the 2021/22 season allows a pathway from the minis (5 years to 12 years) for the women youth players to progress within the club.”
Boroughmuir President Stevie Douglas added: “It’s in our DNA at Boroughmuir is to attract and develop talent from a young age. It has been our ambition to launch girls U14 and U16 teams for some time and it is great to have such a prestigious sponsor to help us kickstart this journey. This reinforces how serious we are about girls and ladies rugby at Boroughmuir.”
We have a girls skills rugby Camp on 26th July for U12 to U16.
