It is with great sadness that we heard of Ronnie Pearson's death on Sunday morning.
Ronnie was one of our longest serving members and had covered almost every role in the Club during his 60 years as a Member - from player, coach, committee man/team manager through to Club President. Ronnie was Boroughmuir President from 1994 to 1996 and a key member of our 75th Anniversary celebrations.
I first met Ronnie in 1980 when he was team manager of our first seven and he whisked me around the border seven circuit in his rather fast Audi, buying this poor student the odd curry meal after our efforts. What a generous man he was.
Diane and Ronnie were never far from Meggetland on Saturday's during the rugby season and always had a friendly word for visitors as well as our own members.
Our thoughts and condolences go to Ronnie's wife Diane and their family.
Ronnie's funeral will be at Mortonhall on Thursday 19 April at 3.00pm and thereafter in the Clubhouse from about 4.30pm. Diane has asked us to say that anyone who knew Ronnie will be welcome.
