The 2nd XV looked to maintain their good form with a trip down to Melrose. Always a hard game when travelling to the Borders Clubs, Boroughmuir were keen to ensure they dictated the game and played the style of rugby that has brought them success so far this season.
With early mistakes frustrating both teams, it was Boroughmuir whom took the initiative and moved the ball from each set play to put Melrose under pressure.
Boroughmuir’s strength in this game was their covering defence and retention of ball.
Andy Knight commented “We were able to hold on to the ball for longer periods, denying Melrose from getting into their routine”.
After the 1st quarter of the game, Boroughmuir were in control of the game with Melrose unable to meet the pace of the game.
Congratulations to the 2nds for a great result and eyes firmly on the title chances. Boroughmuir 37-3 winners over Melrose.
The 2nd XV take on table leaders Heriots this Saturday at Heriots. With a 3pm kick off, the 2nds would love your support to help with their continued campaign success.
