The Youth Section kicked off their season on Friday night with the S1s and S2s taking on Colet Court from London. Colet are regular visitors at this time of the season, this was the seventh consecutive year they have visited Meggetland.
In a competitive match the S1s played some good rugby before eventually losing by three tries to one. Some thundering runs earned Scott Habib ‘Man of the Match’.
S2s got off to a great start to win by seven tries to three. The try of the game started with some fantastic close quarter drives around the ruck which was finished well by the backs. It was a move that much older players would have been proud of. Neil Colvin was voted ‘Man of the Match’.
Boroughmuir U16 v North Berwick
On Sunday the U16s had their first game of the season against North Berwick. In a competitive match some strong play from Boroughmuir in the first two quarters led to a 5 – 0 lead for Muir. North Berwick came back well to level the score. Muir were under pressure in the final quarter and conceded a try from a 5m scrum. Final score 5 – 12 to North Berwick.
Some very encouraging play for the first game but unfortunately there was a serious injury to one of the Muir forwards.
U16 Edinburgh Regional Developmental Squad
There is a strong Boroughmuir representation on the U16 Edinburgh Regional Development Squad. Fourteen boys were invited to the developmental sessions from which ten have attended the regular training sessions and have played in the three developmental sides.
We wish the boys every success and are confident of seeing some of them selected for the U16 Development Squad and hopefully the National U16 training camps later in the year.
