The change of venue from Hawick to Gala did not impact the Boroughmuir Rugby players one little bit, with the team closing out the game within the first half.

In what was one of the most satisfying games of the season, the Muir players played the type of rugby they have been seeking to do all season.  Each of the players involved in this season must be congratulated with showing true intestinal fortitude and have taken heart on finishing just outside the top 4.

Final score 12-40 (ht0-28)

The Magic 2s host Glasgow Hawks in their final game of the season at Meggetland. The first half mistakes costing the Magic a number of easy points to Glasgow.  The 2nd half a different story with Muir winning the half but not able to close the gap at the final whistle. Final score 12-34 to Glasgow Hawks 2nd XV.

The Boroughmuir Bears had a large crowd watching their game against league leaders Kelso A.  Both the Bears and Kelso A have been the two inform teams this season and this was going to be a crunch game, potentially impacting the winner of the league.

A strong and fierce start by Kelso A had the Bears defending very hard in the first 15 mins, but after sustained pressure, the Bears were able to fight their way out of their half and into Kelso territory. The score changing hands throughout the game through the boot of Kelso A’s number 10, with the Bears point coming from some well worked push over tries from the Muir forwards.

The Boroughmuir Bears holding off till the final whistle and taking the win 15-6.  The Bears in need of 5 league points from the next 2 games to secure their 3rd in a row, title. Their next game, at home to Lasswade 2nds on the 19th March.

The Bears wanting to thank the large number of supporters who came down to watch the game and a special thanks to the Magic 2s team who also came down after their game to form a ‘guard or honour’ tunnel to see the Bears off the field.  Great sign of a strong club culture within the club.
