Boroughmuir Rugby announced today that, Bruce Aitchison will be leaving after his 3rd seasons as Head Coach for the 1st XV.
Bruce came to Boroughmuir at the start of the 2013-14 season tasked with returning the club to the Premiership. Bruce's enthusiasm and skills as a coach engendered a great deal of belief in the squad, resulting in a convincing league win, and the club's return to the Premiership in that season.
2014-15 in the Premiership was a clear step up for Bruce, but strong late season form saw the club climb above the relegation zone and ended with a triumphant BT Cup win over Hawick. The team spirit and performance shown that day was a joy to watch.
2015-16 season has offered a lot of promise with tremendous victories against top 4 teams, although challenges with consistency of results has meant that consolidation of Boroughmuir's premiership status was the focus.
On Bruce's departure, club Chairperson, Ally Hay commented,
"Bruce's positive energy has been infectious through the club on and off the pitch, and he leaves Boroughmuir in a much better place than he found it. We at the club wish Bruce well, and I'm sure he will have a positive impact on Scottish Rugby for many years to come.”
Bruce has previously coached at Murrayfield Wanderers and assisted at Watsonians and Dundee.
