Only one team change in the Muir line up from last weeks late win at Ayr with Dale Robertson starting for Robbie Wilson.
From the kick off Currie pressured the Muir defence and gained an early penalty as the Muir forwards went off their feet. However Currie stand off James Semple missed the kick.
There then followed a period of Muir attacks but too many were wasted by not staying on their feet and giving away cheap penalties. Currie then got back on the front foot and pressured the Muir line put some great defence resulting in Will Kay turning over Currie ball and Chris Laidlaw clearing to touch.
Then Muir set up a great attack with Jordan Edmunds rampaging up the wing and setting up a ruck on the Currie 22. Currie forwards went offside but unfortunately Chris Laidlaw missed the resultant penalty attempt. Currie licked long from the 22 drop out which Craig Marshall fielded and ran back setting up another good attack but again Muir went off the feet and gave up a penalty.
From the penalty Currie set up a series of attacks and unfortunately a high tackle from Jordan Edmunds resulted in a yellow card.With Muir reduced to 14 men Currie turned the screws on the Muir defence which stood fast and again turned over Currie ball to set up a great midfield break from Greg Cannie who slipped a pass to the supporting Ed Farquharson who was tackled just short of line.
Currie won the resultant scrum and cleared to touch.
Muir won the line out but Currie turn over the ball and set up full back Ruaridh Young who a great run and he tackled just short of line unfortunately dislocating his knee in the process.
This was the last move on the half which amazingly finishes with the teams tied at 0-0.
In a effort to break the deadlock Muir make four changes at half time bring on Robbie Wilson ,Cal Davies and Craig Keddie in the forwards and Grant McConnell on the wing.
Currie again started strongly setting up a number of attacks on the Muir line but great Muir defence kept them at bay. Turnover ball resulted in a Muir scrum on their 22 from which Craig Marshall made another great break and sent Grant McConnell for a try.
Chris Laidlaw was just short with the conversion so it was 5-0 to Muir. From the kick off Currie again put pressure on the Muir defence. From a line out in the Muir 22 Currie forwards catch at drive at the Muir Line with Travis Brooke going over to score. James Semple puts over the conversion to make it 5-7.
From the kick off Muir put the pressure back on Currie. Craig Keddie turns over Currie scrum ball which sets up another great break by man of match Greg Cannie who scores under the posts.
Chris Laidlaw converts to put Muir into a 12-7 lead.
From the kick off Currie set up a series of attacks and again Muir give up a cheap penalty. Currie kick for the corner and from the resultant line out again catch and drive for the line but this time they move the ball wide fro replacement Matt McPhillips to score in the corner. This time the conversion is missed making the score 12-12.
Muir brought on replacement Dutch scrum half Rik Van Balkolm for his First XV debut whose family had flown in from Holland for the occasion.
From the kick off Muir set up a good attack with Jordan Edmunds held up just short of the line. Currie turn over Muir ball illegally and Muir are awarded a penalty. Unfortunately Chris Laidlaw just misses with the kick. Muir continued to pile on the pressure in the closing minutes a good drive from Cal Davis results in another penalty.
Muir kick to the corner but from the resultant line out Currie turn over ball and clear the line. Grant McConnell mounts another attack on the wing and is put into touch just short of the line but again form the resultant line out Currie turn over ball.
Currie mount another attack but again give away a penalty which Muir kick long to the corner for one final attack but again a cheap penalty is given away at the line out and the final whistle goes.
Final score 12-12.
After last weeks last gasp win at Ayr not a bad result but Muir need to cut down the penalty count.
